Rocky Sites
My name is Rocky Sites and I am a graduate student at Tiffin University. After this term I will have three courses remaining to complete my MBA in sports management. I concluded my undergraduate studies at Indiana State University in 2007 with a B.S. in Social Science Education. I have been a Social Studies teacher and football coach for four years at Elkhart Central High School. On December 14, 2012 my fiance and I had our first child, a daughter, named Nora and with the addition has come a great responsibility and even greater motivation to achieve for my family. The addition has also changed my career priorities. All of my decisions now start with what is best for my family and trickle down from there.
As a coach, beyond the X's and O's of the sport, I have worked extensively with athletes to learn and understand all aspects of sport and their experience as a student-athlete. From NCAA compliance to developing strength and conditioning programs, diets, on the field as a coach of skills, off the field as a mentor, and as a liasion working to network my players with college coaches the job has many layers to it. In the summer of 2012 I had the opportunity to cultivate my skills through the Tiffin University Olympic Experience in London, England by working the 2012 Summer Olympics. I have also spent time in Arizona working with speed coach Mo Streety who has worked with numerous NFL players in their preparation for the combine. I have attended spring practices and spent time in meetings with the football staff's of The Ohio State University and The University of Michigan to further understand the management, motivation, and development of athletes. My education of sport and business is continually growing through this MBA program as well as my continued devotion to relationship building and networking. My mentorship program will be conducted through AWP Sports Performance and CEO Michael V. Ledo. AWP Sports Performance is an hour and a half away from my home and will provide a hands on approach to cultivating leadership and management skills along with core principles of character development. The excitement of the personal growth I expect to achieve through this experience and completion of my degree is at an all-time high and I am ready to immerse myself in the process.
